Nevertheless, the bleak, hushed sounds he created years ago in his small Oakland apartment bubbled to the surface and 2010 saw his debut LP, The Soft Moon, released on Captured Tracks rise to critical acclaim. Pitchfork's 8.1 review stated that Vasquez made 'oblivion seems like an enticing prospect' and, indeed, listeners were immediately drawn into his murky musical wasteland, swathed in the moody atmospheres of jagged dark wave and wayfaring postpunk. For them, and for Vasquez, there was no turning back. The Total Decay EP and Zeros emerged soon after, and now Vasquez returns with The Soft Moon's most introspective and focused album to date: Deeper. With eerie, immersive tracks like the dogged 'Far' and slow, beautifully melancholic 'Wasting', the album is a penetrating portrait of Vasquez as he wrestles thoughts of suicide, vulnerability and what it means to heal. Faith is the third studio album by English rock band The Cure, released on 14 April 1981. Preceded by the single \"Primary\", the album was a moderate success commercially but was received ambivalently by critics. Faith saw The Cure continuing in the gloomy vein of 1980's Seventeen Seconds, which would conclude with the band's next album, Pornography. Following the tour for Seventeen Seconds, The Cure returned to Morgan Studios on 27 September 1980 to record a new album. During this session, recordings of songs \"All Cats Are Grey\" and \"Primary\" were attempted, but neither ended up on the album. Robert Smith was hoping the tracks would sound \"funereal\", but instead he said \"they just sounded dull\". Most of Faith was written in the studio. At least two songs on the album, \"All Cats Are Grey\" and \"The Drowning Man\", were inspired by the Gormenghast novels of Mervyn Peake. Faith was the first album by The Cure to feature six-string bass guitar; \"All Cats Are Grey\" features Smith on keyboards and piano, with no guitar at all. In November 2021 the band released Horses In the Abattoir. A turbulent, atmospheric, and enthralling album, which Sean-Patrick Nolan described to post-punk.com: To me this whole record is about passing time and aging; the frailty and impermanence of existence. How everything we know and love exists briefly before disappearing into nothing. This record covers a wide emotional spectrum from the beautiful to the horrific, overwhelming strength to heartbreaking vulnerability... Shawn Tucker said The theme of the record pulls heavily from the title: taking something innocent and beautiful and ending its life for no reason. In retrospect, 'Horses' captures the darkest period of our entire lives and that hurt bleeds out all over the record. I can definitely say we are still the same band, but certainly not the same inside ourselves. Somehow 'Horses' became its own beast and solidified its own place in the world. At times it seemed like all we had left was 'Horses' and the record felt much stronger and self-contained than us. We stepped out of ourselves for a while, imploding, almost not finding our way back. We just were not that well to be completely honest. It was a destructive time and I didn't even realize what was happening until the storm had finally passed. Despite all this, we had written 17 songs, over a hundred fragments and were excited to start a new phase of our career with Freakwave Records. When I hear this record, it pulls things out of me that you might not want to feel or confront, but that's what making art should be about. This record's filled with anger, sadness, beauty, hurt, love, loss and beyond. I'm very proud of this record. The album found a passionate audience on Bandcamp and other streaming services and was released on CD and cassette. Sacred Bones Records is proud to present the album on vinyl for the first time. Molchat Doma (translated as \"Houses Are Silent\"), founded in 2017 in Minsk, Belarus, stands at the intersection of post-punk, new-wave and synth-pop. Dark yet danceable, and with a heavy dose of goth ethos, their music is reminiscent of the masters that predate them, but make no mistake: Molchat Doma creates a sound and meaning that is immediately recognizable as all their own. The band is comprised of Egor Shkutko, who sings the Russian lyrics in his deep monotone, Roman Komogortsev on guitar, synths, and drum machine, and Pavel Kozlov on bass and synths.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Sacred Bones","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":52744028192949,"sku":"AMI SBON36.2","price":16.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0610\/1231\/2245\/files\/3783172-2541856.jpg?v=1782595736"},{"product_id":"floodland-the-sisters-of-mercy-cd","title":"Floodland — The Sisters of Mercy (CD)","description":"\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhile the goth scene in England was picking up commercial steam in the mid-'80s, The Sisters of Mercy may have seemed quiet, but they roared back with 1987's 'Floodland'. Opening with the driving two-part hymn 'Dominion\/Mother Russia', Sisters leader Andrew Eldritch (along with bassist Patricia Morrison) creates a black soundscape that is majestic and vast. While the earlier Sisters releases were noisy, sometimes harsh affairs, 'Floodland' is filled with lush production (thanks to Meat Loaf writer\/producer Jim Steinman and the New York Choral Society) and lyric imagery that is both scary and glorious. The slower tracks, like 'Flood' and '1959', are some of the best ethereal sounds goth has to offer, and the downright regal 'This Corrosion' is one of the best songs of the genre.
