New Bermuda — Deafheaven (CD)

New Bermuda is the third studio album by San Francisco post-metal band Deafheaven, recorded live to tape in April 2015 at 25th Street Recording in Oakland and Atomic Garden Recording in East Palo Alto. Produced and mastered by longtime collaborator Jack Shirley, the album features the band's core lineup: George Clarke (vocals), Kerry McCoy and Shiv Mehra (guitar), Dan Tracy (drums), and Stephen Lee Clark (bass).

Clarke conceptualized "New Bermuda" as a sonic exploration of arrival at an unknown destination—a nebulous point where things dissolve into darkness. The haunting album artwork, an oil painting by Allison Schulnik rendered in dense brushstrokes of deep blues and dark tones, captures this mood. Art director Nick Steinhardt designed the layout.

A definitive statement in post-metal, New Bermuda balances ethereal guitar work with raw intensity.
